Alex Meixner’s began his performing career as an accordionist at the age of six,
playing with his family in a multi-ethnic folk ensemble. Since these primary performances,
Alex has been featured as a soloist. He has shared the stage with such diverse artists
as Myron Floren, Brave Combo, Don Lipovac, Frank Yankovic and his father’s touring
group The Al Meixner Trio, as well as his own jazz and folk ensembles. Alex has performed
on over 35 recordings to date, including numerous solo recordings. Alex’s performance
repertoire on accordions includes a wide variety of traditional and contemporary
folk styles from Slavic and alpine cultures, jazz and pop selections, as well as
his trademark high-energy button box polka stylings. When Alex is not performing
with all of these groups, he is devoted to bringing music to students through educational
clinics, as well as his private teaching.
Alex begon Meixner zijn carrière als accordeonist toen hij zes jaar oud was. Hij
speelde met enkele gezinsleden in een multi-etnische folk ensemble. Sinds deze eerste
optredens is Alex eveneens een artiest die als solist is te boeken. Hij deelde het
podium met uiteenlopende artiesten als Myron Floren, Brave Combo, Don Lipovac, Frank
Yankovic en zijn vader’s groep Al Meixner Trio. Alex heeft evenals zijn eigen folk
en jazz ensembles. Alex speelde tot op heden mee op meer dan 35 albums, inmiddels
heeft hij ook vele solo-opnamen gemaakt. Alex zijn accordeon repertoire omvat een
grote verscheidenheid aan traditionele en hedendaagse stijlen van folk Slavische
en alpen muziek, maar ook jazz en pop nummers. Zijn handelsmerk is de button box
polka style. Wanneer Alex niet optreed met zijn groepen is hij bezig met het geven
van muzieklessen aan studenten op educatieve scholen. Ook geeft hij privé lessen.
