The Don Wojtila Orchestra was formed in 1980 under the leadership of accordionist
Don Wojtila. The orchestra includes Brother Dan on tenor saxophone. Mother Wojtila
taught Don and Dan piano at an early age. Growing up in Euclid, the brothers were
surrounded with the Slovenian style of music. Dan began accordion lessons at the
age of ten. Don started learning guitar from Frankie Vadnal, he sat in on Dan’s accordion
lessons though. Don really wanted to play the accordion, Dan switched to playing
sax. In the 60’s, Don and Dan along with Al Bambic, Dan Gallo and Gary Vidmar formed
The Keynotes. They performed on many Polka Varieties Television shows. They were
able to put out a 45 RPM record with Burgettstown Polka and the O-Ja Waltz in 1970.
They were playing almost every weekend. Eddie Rodick asked Don and Dan to form a
band with him. They started around 1975. The Rodick Orchestra was very popular; they
played all over the country. The orchestra cut the record Goodtime Polkas on the
Delta label. Songs as Slap Happy Polka, I Saw A Rainbow and Goodtime Polka made it
a great seller. In 1980 the band name switched without Eddie Rodick to the Don Wojtila
Band. The band recorded in the same year the album Country House Polkas. Singers
And Players was a hit for the Wojtila Orchestra. Other great songs from the album
were Papa Joe’s Polka, Bucar’s Polka, Hugs And Kisses, Marry Me and Dreamer’s Polka.
In 1987 they record again as The Don Wojtila Band. Red Hot Polkas also had great
songs as The Eggroll Song, Ain’t No Dance Like A Polka Dance, Brothers And Sisters,
Simcic’s Waltz and Buddy Lou’s Polka. Christine Hibbs joined the band in 1991. The
band recorded again in 1994, this time as the Don Wojtila Show Band. The album Polka
Loving Gall was a tribute to Kenny Bass. The band continues to play and is admired
as one of the best band in Cleveland. Christine Hibbs is also the featured vocalist
on the last album Polkas On Broadway with the Don Wojtila & Fred Gregorich Broadway
Show Band.

Christine Hibbs trad toe tot de band in 1991. In 1994 werd er nogmaals opgenomen,
nu als de Don Wojtila Show Band. Het album Polka Loving Gall was een eerbetoon aan
Kenny Bass. De band speelt nog steeds en krijgt aandacht als één van de beste band
in Cleveland. Christine Hibbs is ook te horen als zangeres op het laatste album Polkas
On Broadway met de Don Wojtila & Fred Gregorich Broadway Show Band.
