George grew up with music, he began playing the accordion at the age of six. George
took music lessons for years. He wanted to play accordion. Having studied classical
music, he is a virtuoso on the accordion. He is often referred to as ‘Fingers George”
His fingers effortlessly glide across the keys. In the 1960s George played polkas
with combos. George wanted to develop his own style of playing. In the 1970s he formed
his own polka orchestra. George's orchestra led tours to Slovenia, and recorded the
albums Polkas on the Slopes and Polka Swingin'. In 1981, George’s orchestra ended.
George continued playing as lead accordionist with the Harry Faint Revue, recording
Polkas By George, which was nominated for a Grammy in 1990, and was voted the Recording
of the Year in 1991 by the Cleveland-
