Biography

Joe Beno was born in Cleveland. At the early age of 10 he began playing the accordion. In a few short years he organized a group of musicians to perform for local parties and dances. After a tour in the Army, again he gathered a group to play happy music. Joe gained a very fine reputation. The Beno sound is unique and very happy. That is the result of quality musicians, each contributing his talents. Many people have heard the Joe Beno Band live, or in the air on Polka Radio Shows. His love for polka music inspired him not only to play the beautiful tunes, but to inscribe them on records. The records of Joe Beno are comprised of ethnic music, with Slovenian, Slovak and Czech tunes. One of Cleveland’s finest musicians Fred Ziwich is featured on some records. Fred plays button box, clarinet, sax, flute and trumpet. Guest artist Eddie Kenik, top vocalist from Cleveland, is vocalizing on some selections.      

Joe Beno werd geboren in Cleveland. Op jeugdige leeftijd, hij was pas 10 jaar begon hij het accordeon te bespelen. In korte tijd organiseerde hij een groep muzikanten om te spelen op plaatselijke partijen en dansavonden. Na zijn diensttijd in het Leger vormde hij opnieuw een band om vrolijke muziek te spelen. Joe kreeg daardoor een hele goede reputatie. Het Beno geluid is uniek en erg vrolijk. Een resultaat van kwaliteitsmuzikanten, die ieder met zijn talenten bijdraagt. Veel mensen hebben de Joe Beno Band gehoord, tijdens een optreden, of op de radio tijdens polka shows. Zijn liefde voor polka inspireerde Joe niet alleen mooie nummers te spelen, maar ze ook voor de grammofoonplaat op te nemen. De platen van Joe Beno omvatten etnische muziek met Sloveense, Slovaakse en Tsjechische melodieën. Één van de beste muzikanten uit Cleveland, Fred Ziwich is op sommige opnamen opvallend goed aanwezig. Fred speelt button box, klarinet, saxofoon, fluit en trompet. Gast artiest Eddie Kenik, top vocalist van Cleveland, zingt daarbij enkele nummers.
