The Mahoning Valley Button Box Club was one of the first diatonic accordion ensembles.
The club has had as many as 30 musicians, with women and children performing on the
same stage with men. The club first met at the Slovenian Home in Girard, Ohio, and
drew its members from the Penn-Ohio area. The players were inspired by the button
box revival led by Frank Novak, Lou Trebar and Lojze Slak, among others. They have
taken their happy music on tours across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean,
and twice to Slovenia. The group has released four albums and won annual awards from
the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame. Players practice every week and
appear in parades, concerts, fairs, events and festivals.

De club bestaat uit maar liefst 30 muzikanten, vrouwen en kinderen maken muziek op
hetzelfde podium als de heren. De club ontstond in Slovenian Home, Girard, Ohio.
De leden komen uit de Pennsylvania - Ohio regio. De spelers werden geïnspireerd door
de button box revival van Frank Novak, Lou Trebar en Lojze Slak. Ze maken vrolijke
muziek en tourden o.a. door Amerika, Canada, het Caribisch gebied, en Slovenië. De
groep heeft vier albums uitgebracht, ze wonnen diverse awards die jaarlijks door
de National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame worden uitgereikt. De club speelt
elke week, ze treden op tijdens parades, concerten, beurzen, evenementen en festivals.
