Phillip Nadvesnik, at the age of 8 years old, began learning the keyboard at his
primary school in Melbourne, Australia, from a Russian music teacher. During the
same year of starting to learn the guitar from
Joe Matera, he wasn't closed minded
about learning a new instrument, and soon, because of his Slovenian heritage and
help of his parents, found an old Yugoslavian piano accordion to begin lessons on.
Phillip found a piano accordion teacher, Don Quattrocchi, who was a promoter of the
piano accordion in Victoria, Australia, and had the largest music school in country
Victoria in the 1970's. Phillip didn't like his first accordion lesson, but very
soon found it very interesting, and had a kick start on the right (piano) side of
the piano accordion, due to his keyboard playing ability. He became a polka lover
at the age of 10 as well, and began playing the accordion in public with busking
at local markets and shopping strips, which motivated Phillip to continue with his
learning of the accordion. At the age of 11, he was known as a "one man band" playing
suitable accordion music to dance to, at local ethnic clubs, folk festivals, aged
care centres, and busking. By 2007, Phillip's music was heard on many ethnic radio
shows in Melbourne, including interviews on Slovenian radio programs in Melbourne,
followed by the playback of his music on numerous internet radio stations, shows
and streams from around the globe,
including Slovenia, Germany, Netherlands and U.S.A.
He has now recorded two albums; "Phillip's Favourites" at the age of 12, and "Phillip
& Victor Live" at the age of 14 with his best music friend Victor, who plays the
button accordion. Phillip is now concentrating on his education and music. He is
still appearing with his accordion at clubs, parties and festivals in Melbourne.
There are many places in Australia that encourage this music, but he sees that there
is not enough promotion of this wonderful music. For 2 to 3 years he has been running
his internet radio streams, until April of 2008. From then on, he continues his polka
music podcast on the net called "Polka Radio Melbourne", playing all kinds of music.
He'd love to promote polka music & accordion music in Melbourne and improve the respect
of this music with today's society. Phillip couldn't have achieved any of this and
found a passion for music, if it weren't for his remarkable parents, Felix and Majda
Nadvesnik.

muziekleraar. In hetzelfde jaar kreeg hij gitaarles van Joe Matera. Hij was niet
van plan om het daarbij te laten. Het leren bespelen van een nieuw instrument kwam
niet veel later. Met behulp van zijn ouders vond hij een oude Joegoslavische piano
accordeon. Phillip vond een piano accordeon leraar, Don Quattrocchi. Hij was de promotor
van het piano accordeon in Victoria, Australië, hij had in de jaren 70 daar de grootste
muziekschool van het land. Phillip vond zijn eerste accordeon les niet leuk, maar
al heel snel daarna werd het wel interessant. Hij leerde snel op de rechter (piano)
kant van het accordeon vanwege zijn keyboard verleden. Hij werd een polka liefhebber
toen hij 10 jaar was. Hij trad voor het eerst in het openbaar op tijdens plaatselijke
markten. Phillip werd gemotiveerd om verder te gaan met het leren van accordeon spelen.
Toen hij 11 jaar was had hij al naam gemaakt als de ‘one man band’ accordeon speler.
Erg geschikt om op te dansen, hij speelde voor lokale etnische clubs, op volksfeesten
en voor ouderenzorg. In 2007 was de muziek van Phillip te horen op diverse etnische
radio shows in Melbourne, inclusief interviews tijdens Sloveense radio-
